Foreword

In this booklet Kumari Manu Gandhi describes a few incidents with Gandhiji. They throw light upon some aspects of Gandhiji's character and activities.

Manu is a grandniece of Gandhiji. But he had constituted himself her 'Mother'. Shortly after he had entered upon the last great mission of his life - namely, Hindu- Muslim Peace - in Noakhali (East Bengal) in September 1946, Manu joined him and was his only constant com­panion thenceforth till his martyrdom on the 30th January 1948. As such, these pen pictures will be read with great interest. They were first contributed to the Bhavnagar Samachar, a Gujarati weekly of Saurashtra - Kathiawad. They have been rendered into English by her friend.
