I must confess I am not a hardened expert in Gandhian affairs, having only acquired a taste for India after becoming best friends with an Indian. I now think I have made a connection with it, and especially with Gandhi,
who has become, if one might say so, my hero. At least he is my model. Why he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize has eluded me in the past and continues to anger me. Kofi Anan and Jimmy Carter, successful failures, have received it for good intentions. My theory is this: the Prize is far beneath Gandhi. He himself epitomized peace, he WAS peace. A simple look at his message will suffice. Millions of rioting Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs learned to stop their conflicts and hold their breath for the dying Mahatma. If one comes to know India, like I did, and its bitter struggles, one would see that this by itself is a great achievement, worth more than any piece of paper. The image of Gandhi, "marching, staff in hand" (as Nehru put it) towards the sea means more to the world in the long run than some moronic armchair committee members' recognition.
Great website and keep fighting the good fight in the Mahatma's name. It's what he would have wanted, I'm sure.

People like Mahatma Ghandi are true heroes they fight for a right that they fully believe in. Mahatma Ghandi should have been rewarded with anything just to get people remembering him for what he did. My idol has to be Matin Luther King who like Mahatma Ghandi was a truly historic man who made the world how it is today. I am a white person and hate the term 'whites' and 'blacks' were just people after all and shouldn't have a stereotypical name.

The greatest reward for any person is the people appreciating his/her work. These reward are just don't represent much the effect the peron has effect on his surrounding environment. If mahatmas work and principle would have been followed there wouldn't have been any war nor would anybody dare to talk about one. In this point of time it is very essential to understand what the mahatma stood for and follow his teachings so that there is tolerance and peace throughout and the sole objective of the human race should be its own welfare.
