POSTHUMOUS DOCTORATES FOR GANDHIJI AND KASTURBA

New York -Indian independence leader Mohandas K. (Mahatma) Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi were conferred honorary doctorate degrees posthumously by Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, at the closing ceremony early this month of the third annual "A Season for Nonviolence" international peace campaign.

During the ceremony, bronze busts of the Gandhis were unveiled at the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at the college, and a Gandhi Centre for Reconciliation was inaugurated there as tribute to Gandhi's and King... King was a prominent alumnus of the college...

The Gandhi busts were gifts to the college provided by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations...
