Sarvodaya Mandal to promote Gandhian value through books

In its efforts to promote Ghandhian values, city-based trust, Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal will sell over 200 books written by Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba on low prices from October 2 onwards at the Gandhi Book Centre here.
"On the occasion of 147th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, about 200 titles on and by the Gandhiji, Vinobaji and Sarvodaya will be sold at up to 50 per cent discount by Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal," managing trustee of the mandal, Tulsidas Somaiya said. The books would be on sale from October 3 to 11 (except on Sunday) at Gandhi Book Centre in Nana Chowk.
Top-selling book, 'An Autobiography' of Mahatma Gandhi will be available at Rs 40, while 'The Mind of Mahatma Gandhi’ (encyclopedia of Mahatma Gandhi) of 589 pages will be available at Rs 50. About 200 books on Gita, prayer, politics, religion, economics, education, constructive work, peace, non-violence, conflict resolution and social change will also be available in various regional languages for the book lovers.
Besides, the mandal will also conduct the Gandhi Peace Exam across prisons of Maharashtra. "In a bid to evoke the sense of remorse through inculcation of moral values in minds of under-trials and make them realise the power of truth and non-violence, we regularly conduct Gandhi Peace Exam in the jails. It will be held this year in jails at Byculla (Mumbai), Chandrapur, Akola, Nagpur, Bhandara prisons," he said.
