Dear Participants,

Thank you for your participation in creative arts competition held during UN declared “International Non Violence Day” on 2nd October 2009.

The purpose of this competition was to educate the people, to create awareness on current issues and to spread the flame of “Peace and Non Violence” values among the younger generation that was gifted to us by the social and religious reformers in India and upheld by Mahatma Gandhi.

We received overwhelming responses, nearly 2000 entries in this competition which was beyond our expectation. Our apologies for the delay in announcing the results.

All entries received were meticulously scanned with regards to the conditions specified in the competition brochure. Unfortunately, we observed that in many cases the conditions were not adhered to while sending the submission. For e.g. the first name, middle name and the last name of the participant were not clearly specified which led to confusion whilst writing the names on the certificates. In many cases, ‘Entry forms’ were either incomplete or not submitted. As a result, considerable time was spent in obtaining the complete information. Thank you to those who have done the right thing.

Our judges have also diligently attended each and every entry and have made a few observations for the benefit of the participants. Whilst most of the entries reflected your genuine creativity and personal thoughts on the theme, a few entries unfortunately were either copied from the internet or published books.  Some entries were written out of context and certain students copied the content from each other. However, we sincerely appreciate and thank you for your time and efforts put in the competition.

The winners of the competition have been informed and issued the cash prize as well as the trophy separately. All participants whose entries were accepted have been issued a “Certificate of participation” and an inspiring book on Mahatma Gandhi as a token of appreciation.

The competition is hereby closed and no further query will be entertained on this matter.

With Peaceful Regards,

Ronnie D’Souza
Director - Gandhi Peace Centre.
