15,440 Gandhi Books worth Rs. 3.86 lakhs sold within six days

On the occasion of 64th Gandhi Death Anniversary

 

Rush at Gandhi Book Exhibition at Fountain, Mumbai

 

There was a tremendous response to Gandhi Books Exhibition-cum-Sale. About 15,440 Gandhi books of worth Rs.3,86,000/- were sold within six days from 30th January to 4th February. 'An Autobiography' of Mahatma Gandhi, and a set of five important books, 'Selected Works of Mahatma Gandhi' were the top-selling books at the exhibition. About 3,652 copies of 'Gandhi's Autobiography' and 145 sets of 'Selected Works of Mahatma Gandhi' were sold. Other Gandhi books on economics, politics, education, law, health etc. were also popular. We were happy to note that most of those who frequented the stall were youngsters.

To commemorate Gandhi's 64th Death Anniversary, 300 books on & by Gandhi, Vinoba & Sarvodaya were displayed & sold at 50% discount by Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal & Gandhi Book Centre with the financial assistance from ‘Babulnath Mandir Charities’ from 30th January to 4th February at specially erected Mandap at Hutatma Chowk and at Gandhi Book Centre, Nana Chowk.

In the present context of increasing violence, terrorism & crime, Autobiography and other books of Mahatma Gandhi are inspiring many people all over the world. This year, up to now, more than 3.5 lakh copies of 'An Autobiography' of Mahatma Gandhi in fifteen Indian languages are being sold by Navjivan Trust.
