[Mr. McConnell (1871-1953), Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church (1912-1944), was national chairman of the World Fellowship of Faiths. He sent an invitation to Gandhiji to attend a World Parliament of Religions which the Fellowship planned to organise.¹²⁰ 
Bishop McConnell, who was active on many social issues, was a friend of India and became a member of the India League of America.]
